This week, Barbara Martin, Co-CEO and Co-Founder of The Brand Guild

will discuss  “Entrepreneurship & Charity Involvement.” Barbara Martin and Jayne Sandman founded The  Brand Guild in 2010.The company grew from a shared belief that dynamic brands need a  collaborative communications and marketing strategy to succeed in today’s ever-changing  landscape. Jayne and Barbara have built an agency of specialists, with expertise in-house  across our departments—Public Relations, Marketing, Events and Creative—to deliver  

meaningful results to our clients.  

The duo has been profiled in The New York Times’ Sunday Styles cover story as “the architects of the new  Washington,” named to the Washington Business Journal’s Power 100 List, cited by GQ Magazine as one of the “50  Most Powerful People in Washington,” and selected by BizBash magazine as among the top event innovators in the  country. Their clients include companies like Sweetgreen, Uncle Nearest 1856 Whiskey, Imperfect Foods, Ellevest,  Soulcycle, Brookfield Properties, Drybar, Washington Nationals, Salesforce, Lyft, District Wharf, and Bozzuto. 

In our Bethesda backyard, Barbara wandered into a back corner of Glen Echo Park, off MacArthur Boulevard in  Maryland. It was there she found what she called a “crumbling fountain overgrown with weeds.” She started digging  and filling it with flowers. It doesn’t have an official name, so she dubbed it “Beeler Fountain” after her college  roommate, who was dealing with a devastating cancer diagnosis. Barbara rounded up a group of friends she dubbed  the Secret Magic Garden Society to help restore the fountain. Partnering with the Glen Echo Partnership for Arts and  Culture, she aims to raise $25,000 to renovate the grounds surrounding the fountain and stabilize the fountain’s  structure. 

Barbara is also world-renowned for her Peeps diorama skills.
