On behalf of the Host Committee of the inaugural Green Cup, I'm writing to invite you and other Wharton Club of DC members and your guests to join us for the first US "green" polo match, to be held this Saturday, July 14th at 12:00 pm in Poolesville, MD.

The Green Cup is a high-profile sporting event organized by the Capitol Polo Club. It was the idea of Dr. Robert Do, Chairman & CEO of ACORE member Solena Group and Chairman of the Polo Club. The competitive match will be played by the Tai Pan Polo Team and the Solena Group Polo Team. It will feature some of the region's most prominent polo players.

The Green Cup will benefit ACORE and four other nonprofit organizations serving sustainable development and promoting environmental awareness. Washington Life will be covering the event along with a host of other magazines and newspapers. Sponsors include the Solena Group, Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Cliff Bar, Provident Bank, Honest Tea, Java Green and others.

Schedule:

Gates open at 12:00 pm with an opening speech by the Danish Ambassador, Friis Arne Petersen.

The main match is at 1:00 pm.

Dress code is business formal, with a coat and tie for gentlemen and the equivalent for ladies.

We recommend you bring sunscreen, sunglasses and hats as it may be a hot day, or at least a sunny one.

You can book online. Tickets are just $10 per person and include: access to ACORE's VIP tent, with some refreshments for you and your family/group. The program includes events for your whole family.
