On January 20, 2009, the City Club of Washington will host a 2009 Presidential Inaugural Ball at its Columbia Square location in the heart of the Penn Quarter, mere blocks from the White House. This estimated 500-person event is co-hosted by the newly formed group, the 44 Winds of Change, LLC Inaugural Committee.
The ball will be attended by Club and Associate Members and non-members alike, and will include a roster of distinguished invitees. If you are a Wharton Club member, you have three options from which you can choose, all at 20% discount from public prices. Limited number of seats available - sign up ASAP. The premier “Presidential Package” features a seated, five-course dinner paired with a large and delicious selection of fine wines. A Slow Roasted Beef Tenderloin and City Club Crab Cakes with a Wild Rice and Roasted Chestnut Stuffing, Forest Mushrooms, and a rich Pinot Noir Glace will be the main course.
All guests will enjoy live jazz - the musical stylings of Herb “The Cool Gent” Kent, a well-known Chicago DJ and Museum of Broadcasting inductee, as well as the Total Eclipse Band featuring vocalist Topaza Edmond. He is a voice of the Chicago community, a father, a friend, and a living history lesson. In 1995, he was inducted into the Museum of Broadcasting’s, Radio Hall of Fame. Herb hosts two highly rated shows on WVAZ FM. Kent is a contributing writer for N’DIGO Magazine, and lectures to communication students at Chicago State University. | | |  | TOTAL ECLIPSE Total Eclipse Band formed by Laurence G Haynes in 1990, and consist of six members, Stan Green, Warren Wolf Jr, Dwayne Howard, Mike McCall, Rosco Evans, and Victoria Purcell. - Guest names reported by Wednesday, January 14th (can be later, in view of late notice)
