Meet Toby Keith - latest news:

Jill Winans - Celebrity News Service Reporter

Nashville, TN (CNS) - Toby Keith is passionate about his country and is even more passionate about the military who defend our country. While Keith's dedication to the military is well documented, he will be rewarded for that dedication. Keith's dedication to our service men and women has earned him a distinct honor from the United States Marine Corps.

On March 24, Toby will receive the Johnny "Mike" Spann Memorial Semper Fidelis Award during a New York ceremony held by the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation. The trophy is named for a former Marine Corps captain who was the first American casualty in the war in Afghanistan.

"Spending time with our soldiers around the world is something I've always regarded as a privilege and honor. I'm certainly happy to accept this award, but I won't forget for a second who's really doing the heavy lifting to keep this country safe," says Toby.

Toby has made several pilgrimages to the Middle East, in fact, he just completed his seventh USO tour in 2008. For years he has entertained and encouraged the men and women serving on or near the front lines. Toby says he will keep going back and spending time with the soldiers every chance he gets.
