You’ve heard so much about social media websites like LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter, and perhaps your business has a presence on one or more social media websites. Attend this first session in a series of DC Chamber of Commerce’s Technology Seminars to learn how to integrate social media websites into your business and to optimize them to communicate effectively to current and prospective clients.

The panel of experts will cover:

  • how social media sites fit into your business model
  • strategy for creating effective communication for your business on social media sites
  • issues involved and setting standards
  • the technical “how-to’s” and “the rules”
  • case studies: the ones that work, and what made them work!

Panelists include:

Casey Golden
Casey is a lifetime entrepreneur who has traveled the world speaking about entrepreneurship and has started many successful companies including the most recent, a local SaaS CRM software company, Parature. His current venture, Small Act Network, merges the worlds of social media and philanthropy, helping nonprofits build sustainable fundraising through the use of social media.

Shashi Bellamkonda
Shashi works for Web hosting company, Network Solutions, as the first-ever Network Solutions 'Social Media Swami'. In this position he has helped Network Solutions aggressively move into the online space to actively listen to and interact with its customers. A prolific Twitterer, blogger, and product innovator, Shashi loves technology, testing new things and helping people and small businesses. A self-described 'Internet junkie,' Shashi has presented previously on 'How to Sell Social Media to Your Boss' and 'Social Media Tools for Small Business.'

Douglas Shackelford
Doug is vice president of client business development for Exselleration, LLC, a business consulting firm with a focus on sales, marketing and human resources in Washington, DC . He is also a certified master consulting agent for the MYM Marketing Methodology. He is an experienced social media business user and can provide observations, especially as it applies to the revenue generating efforts of small business. Doug has closely watched the development of existing platforms and applications as well as the new emerging ones to determine their value to his business and to the business development efforts of his company’s clients.

Chris Dorobek is the co-anchor of Federal News Radio's afternoon drive program, The Daily Debrief with Chris Dorobek and Amy Morris, managing editor of FederalNewsRadio.com, and the founder, publisher and editor of the DorobekInsider.com, a leading blog for the Federal IT community. Chris joined Federal News Radio in 2008. Prior to joining Federal News Radio, he was editor-in-chief of Federal Computer Week, the leading news magazine for government IT decision-makers and the flagship of the 1105 Government Information Group portfolio of publications. As editor-in-chief, he served as a member of the senior leadership team at 1105 Government Information Group, providing daily editorial direction and management for FCW magazine, FCW.com, Government Health IT and its other editorial products.

Prior to joining FCW, Chris was a technology reporter at PlanetGov.com, one of the first online community centers for current and former government employees. He also spent five years at Government Computer News, another leading industry publication, covering a variety of federal IT-related issues. Chris is a frequent speaker on issues involving the government IT industry, and has appeared as a frequent contributor to NewsChannel 8's Federal News Today program.
