Meet Laura Alima, "The Charmery - A journey to achieve Happiness Through Ice Cream" 9/17
Laura and her husband David are founders of The Charmery, a collection of ice cream shops in Baltimore, Columbia, Chevy Chase, and most recently, the District of Columbia. Wharton Club members and guests are invited!
Laura and her husband David are founders of The Charmery, a collection of ice cream shops in
Baltimore, Columbia, Chevy Chase, and most recently, the District of Columbia. They opened
their first location in the Hampden neighborhood in 2013 and in 2018 expanded into an Ice
Cream Factory and another retail location in Towson. In 2021, they expanded into a store in the
new Merriweather District in Columbia. In the summer of 2023, a store opened in Chevy Chase
Lakes and in Spring of 2024, the 6th store joined The Charmery family in the Parks at Walter
Reed. The shops feature handcrafted Ice Cream – classic and whimsical flavors with
Milkshakes, Floats, Sundaes (with homemade toppings) and Hot Chocolate in the winter
months.
Laura grew up in Columbia, MD and graduated from the Cornell Hotel School with a background
in Food & Beverage Management. She managed The Old Ebbitt Grill in Washington DC, was an
event specialist for the E&J Gallo Winery, and the Marketing Director for Chef’s Expressions
Catering.
She and her husband live in Baltimore City and have two children, Maggie (10) and Max (7).
