David Sherer is a native of Washington DC and is a physician, author, journalist and blogger. He attended Emory University where he earned a BA in Music, and completed his MD degree at Boston University. After an internship in internal medicine in Baltimore he went on to complete his anesthesiology residency at The University of Miami and its affiliated hospitals.

 

After a 35-year clinical career, he retired and devotes his time to writing, patient advocacy, piano and fitness, as well as travel.

 

He is the author of six books, two of which were nominated for The National Book Award, for both fiction and non-fiction. He consults with Bottom Line Publications and is the author of the regular commentary column, Wake Up Call for Anesthesiology News.
