Hanghang Wang, M.D., Ph.D. is a Cardiac Surgeon at Suburban Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Wharton Club members and guests are invited!
Hanghang Wang, M.D., Ph.D. is a Cardiac Surgeon at Suburban Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Dr. Wang received her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Grinnell College, M.D. from Dartmouth Medical School and Ph.D. in Computational Biology & Bioinformatics from Duke University. She also holds a Certificate in College Teaching from Duke University. She completed her general surgery residency at Duke University Medical Center and cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at Johns Hopkins, where she received comprehensive training in mitral valve repair, CABG surgery (both on- and off-pump), and aortic surgery. Further specialized training includes complex mitral and aortic surgeries at the University of Toronto and aortic dissection at one of the world's leading centers for the condition.
Dr. Wang practices all aspects of cardiac surgery, with a special interest in the mitral valve repair surgery. She also has a keen interest in aortic surgery, including aortic dissections. Dr. Wang leads a translational research lab that intersects cardiac surgery, computational biology, and bioengineering. She has made significant contributions to cardiovascular disease research, discovering novel biomarkers and standardizing metabolomic profiling protocols. She has also played a key role in establishing a comprehensive aortic disease registry and tissue biorepository. Dr. Wang has presented her work at many national and international conferences and has published her work in high-impact journals such as JAMA Cardiology and Circulation.
