Acclaimed chef José Andrés to discuss food distribution in conflict zones at Headliners event Friday 3/1
Chef José Andrés, founder of World Central Kitchen, will discuss the organization's efforts to distribute food in conflict and disaster zones at a fireside chat on Friday, March. 1, at 6:30 p.m. at the National Press Club. Wharton Club members & guests are invited!
Chef José Andrés, founder of World Central Kitchen, will discuss the organization's efforts to distribute food in conflict and disaster zones at a Headliners fireside chat on Friday, March. 1, at 6:30 p.m. at the National Press Club.
In Gaza, World Central Kitchen is providing more than 60% of all NGO food aid in the conflict zone. The organization so far has served more than 30 million meals, dispatched and delivered more than 1,200 trucks, participated in an airdrop of humanitarian supplies to the hard to reach northern area of Gaza, and has a boat in Cyprus prepared to head to the Middle East with food.
World Central Kitchen is also entering its third year of feeding people in Ukraine. In addition to its conflict zone activities, World Central Kitchen is responding to wildfires in Chile.
Andrés says food is not, and should never be, a weapon of war.
Registration is required and includes a drink ticket. Doors open at 6 p.m. for small bites, a drink and mingling ahead of the program.
The program will include a question-and-answer session.
Following the event, guests can continue the conversation in the Holeman Lounge where dinner will be available for purchase.
