Memorial Volunteer Day at Peirce Mill Orchard in Rock Creek Park 5/27
We're celebrating Earth Days all year long - next event is Monday May 27th at the Peirce Mill Orchard. Wharton Club members & guests are invited!
ForestPlanet supports high-volume forest restoration projects around the world to the tune of 1.5 million trees planted to date. We also like to get our hands dirty supporting other tree projects where we can, especially in our own back yard, i.e. Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC. We're big fans of the ongoing Peirce Mill demonstration orchard project, and we've written about it here.
Monday May 27th is another volunteer day down at the Orchard and you're invited to join us!
Volunteers are needed to:
Spread mulch around the apple and pear trees
Remove vines and invasive species
Cut back the winder cover
Attend to other minor landscaping tasks.
Come out and get dirty!
What to bring: We will be working outside in variable weather conditions; please wear adequate sun protection and appropriate clothing for the weather. Gardening tools will be provided, but volunteers are asked to bring a pair of gloves. Please remember a water bottle, and snacks if you'd like them. There are restrooms and a waterbottle-refilling station nearby.
