Former CBS News correspondent Marvin Kalb plans to discuss his new book, A Different Russia: Khrushchev and Kennedy on a Collision Course, at a virtual Headliners Book Event on Friday, Jan. 24, at 2:30 p.m. The event will be broadcast via livestream on the National Press Club's website.

A Different Russia is the third in the series of Kalb's memoirs. This one focuses on his time as the Moscow correspondent for CBS News. Kalb, who speaks Russian, kept a daily record of his broadcasts on the building confrontation between Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev and President John F. Kennedy.

Kalb, 94, hosted "The Kalb Report" public broadcasting series for 28 years and 103 programs. "The Kalb Report" was the longest-running and most successful long-term project in Club history. The series ended in 2023. Kalb is the Murrow Professor Emeritus at Harvard University and a senior fellow at the Annenberg Center of the University of Southern California. He was the founding director of the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy, and a former CBS and NBC News correspondent.
