Meet Cari Guthrie "Being an Employer in the 2020's:  Mental Health and Burnout" 9/9

Cari is a licensed social worker working in community mental health for over 35 years. Wharton Club members and guests are invited!

• Cari is a licensed social worker working in community mental health for over 35 years. She received her MSW 1995. She has worked for Johns Hopkins and Medstar Montgomery before going to Threshold Services which is now Cornerstone Montgomery.
• She started as a Residential Counselor and was promoted multiple times currently serving as CEO for 13 years. Throughout her tenure, Cari has played a pivotal role in advancing the organization’s mission, implementing evidence-based practices like Integrated Treatment for Co-Occurring Disorders, Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
• She has also been instrumental in developing a robust staff training and orientation program, navigating two significant mergers, and securing over $6 million in community bond funding to renovate commercial and residential properties as well as $10 million in SAMHSA grants to become a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC).
• She has seen the organization through 2 mergers, growing to a $37 million budget, with 430 employees and serving over 3000 people across 4 Counties.
• Cari is driven by the belief that fostering strong partnerships and advocating for mental health services can have a transformative impact on both individuals and the community. Her commitment to transparency and open decision-making continues to push the boundaries of the field, ensuring that Cornerstone Montgomery remains a leader in mental health care.
