-
Steve Gurney is a nationally recognized leader and advocate in aging and longevity. He founded the Positive Aging SourceBook in 1990, inspired by his family's caregiving for his grandfather, to provide comprehensive resources on senior living, assisted living, home care, and aging-in-place across the Mid-Atlantic region.
-
After selling it to The Washington Post in 1998 and reacquiring it in 2019, he rebranded it as the Positive Aging Community, adding modern design, podcasts, live discussions, and expanded content.
-
In 2026, through a strategic coordination/merger with The Beacon Newspapers, Steve now serves as associate publisher, uniting the two 30+-year platforms to enhance resources, print publications, events, and support for older adults, caregivers,
and the 50+ audience. -
A frequent speaker, media contributor, and award recipient, his mission is to foster connections and empower purposeful living at every stage.
