  • Cherise L. Williams is the owner of the Law Office of Cherise L. Williams, where she has been in private practice since 2007.
  • With over 20 years of legal experience, she focuses on family law matters in Maryland and Washington, D.C., including custody, support, marital property division, and collaborative divorce.
  • Prior to private practice she previously clerked for the Honorable Lenore R. Gelfman (Ret.) at the Howard County Circuit Couty and later practiced with the Baltimore firm of Randall & Sonner before starting her own firm in Montgomery County.
  • During her time at Randall & Sonnier and at the start of her own practice, Ms. Williams was court appointed to represent more than 300 children as a Guardian ad Litem and Best Interest Attorney in the foster care systems in Baltimore and Washington, D.C., helping them achieve permanency, including guardianship and adoption.
  • That experience continues to shape her approach to understanding child abuse and neglect in family dynamics.
  • In her current private practice, she works with clients to determine the approach that best fits their situation, whether through unbundled out of court services, the collaborative process, or litigation in court.
  • She has experience handling matters involving complex financial portfolios and real estate considerations in a divorce.
  • She also assists clients with wills, advanced directives, financial power of attorney, and trusts creation.
  • Ms. Williams is active in the collaborative law community.
  • She is a member of Montgomery County Collaborative Dispute Resolution Professionals (CDRP), where she serves as Co-Chair of the Membership Committee, a member of the International
  • Academy of Collaborative Professionals (IACP) and participates in committee work with the Collaborative Project of Maryland. She is also involved with the Maryland State Bar Association Family Law Section and The DC Bar Family Law, Estate, Trust, & Probate Sections, and was previously a member of the Trial lawyers Association of Washington DC.
